Sanghar: 18 bonded labourers rescued from brick kiln
SANGHAR: As reported by the Dawn News on Monday, on the orders of the Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court, police raided a brick kiln near Chutto Wassan village in Jhol area on Sunday and freed 18 bonded labourers, a number of women and children among them.
The court ordered the raid on an application filed by Ms Nazeeran Oad, who said that the owner of the kiln, Doulat Khan, had detained her members of her family and was forcing them to work without wages.
She alleged that the man did not maintain any account of their wages and did not provide them adequate food.
Police raided the kiln and freed Nazeeran, Sudhir, Shabbir, Arbab, Hazari, Angoor, Allah Bachai, Gul Pari, Zainab, Pathani and seven children, Sana, Sohail, Sanaullah, Ramzan and Rasheed. The labourers belonged to the Oad community. The freed labourers were brought to Jhol police station and they will be produced in court on Monday. No FIR was registered against the kiln owner.
