Social worker killed in Karachi
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Saturday, a young man was gunned down in New Karachi on Friday, police said.
They said that the victim, identified as Jaffer Shah, was targeted outside the office of a social organisation he was running in Sector 7-A.
“He was operating an NGO for the welfare of physically handicapped people,” said an official at the Sir Syed Police Station. “Two men on a motorbike came and stopped outside his office where Jaffer was sitting with his friends. One of the assailants pulled out a pistol and fired multiple shots at him.”
The victim, who was in his mid-forties, sustained two bullet wounds in the head and chest and died on way to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
“The exact motive behind the killing is unclear. The victim was known as a social activist and lived in the same area,” added the official.
