Karachi: 14 held with 120k-ltr smuggled HSD
KARACHI: As reported by the Daily Times on Tuesday, four oil tankers carrying 120,000 litres of High Speed Diesel (HSD) smuggled from Iran were seized and the gang involved in the offence arrested at the Super Highway on Monday.
An Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) party tried to intercept four oil tankers near Kathor when they were observed being escorted by two cars.
However, when the convoy ignored the signal, it was forcefully stopped by blocking the road with official vehicles.
The four oil tankers and the two cars were seized and 14 people arrested because they failed to produce any legal document for lawful possession and transportation of HSD.
The detainees said each tanker contained 30,000 litres of HSD worth Rs15 million.
A case has been registered against them under the Customs Act of 1969.
