Karachi: 2 thieves killed in encounter with police
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, two suspected armed bandits were killed in a shoot-out with police in a Gulshan-i-Maymar locality on Monday, officials said. They said that at least three armed men intercepted Pervez Khan who was coming in a car from a nearby farmhouse in Block K industrial area of Gulshan-i-Maymar where he worked as a manager.
“They beat him up badly before snatching his car, cellphone and wallet containing cash,” said an official at the Gulshan-i-Maymar police station. “The victim found a police party on patrol a few seconds after the incident. He informed them about the incident. The police cordoned off the area and finally found the snatched car near the Labour Square.”
However, as the police party closed in, the armed men in the car fired at the mobile van carrying at least six policemen and got off the car, said the official. “A few bullets hit the windscreen of the mobile but the policemen remained unhurt,” he said, adding that the policemen chased the armed men and after an exchange of gunfire two of the suspects got wounded.
“After the guns fell silent, we found that two of the bandits had died from police fire and one of their aides managed to escape from the scene. Two pistols, cellphones, cash and the snatched vehicle were recovered.” He said that the bodies of the alleged bandits were shifted to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for want of identification after medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
