Muhammad Amin was produced before Additional District and Sessions Judge Akram Chaudhry in a murder case. After the hearing, the police took him back to the judicial lockup (Bakhshikhana) where he was detained along with other prisoners. The police said Amin, with the connivance of Bakhshikhana in-charge Zaheeruddin, managed a meeting with his family members outside the lockup. The lockup in-charge sent two constables, Yasin and Sabir, to guard handcuffed Amin.
During the meeting, Amin’s family members offered juices to the constables. After taking the juices, which were poisonous, the constables fell unconscious, giving an opportunity to Amin and his relatives to flee the scene.
The fainted policemen were later taken to Government Mian Muhammad Munshi Hospital where they are stated to be in critical condition. On the complaint of DSP (Judicial), the Islampura police registered a case against both the constables. The suspect was still at large till the filing of this report.
