Militants blow up 2 schools, CD store in Bannu
BANNU: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, two government-run schools, a CD centre and a guesthouse of a former nazim were blown up by suspected militants in different areas of Bannu district on Monday. Locals and police said that militants planted explosive devices at a primary school for girls in Saddar Khan Mandev and a primary school for boys Mandev Khas, near the residence of a former nazim, in the small hours of Monday.
The explosives went off one after another, completely destroying a room and veranda of the girls school. The boys school was partially damaged, they said. The hujra (male guesthouse) and main gate of the residence of former nazim Nazar Ali were also damaged in the blasts.
Militants also blew up Bashir CD centre on D.I. Khan-Bannu Road in the jurisdiction of Saddar police station at midnight.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incidents. However, police held militants responsible for the series of blasts in a single night. DPO Sajjad Khan told Dawn that 13 suspected persons were arrested and huge cache of arms was recovered during a search operation.
