Militants blow up 2 more girls’ schools in Swat, Mohmand
MINGORA/GHALANAI: As reported by the Dawn News on Wednesday, suspected militants blew up two more schools in Swat and Mohmand Agency on Tuesday. A government-run school was targeted in Koza Bandai area of Swat valley while another was destroyed in Safi tehsil of Mohmand tribal region.
The number of schools, destroyed after launching of military operation in Swat, has reached to three. Two schools, one each in Kalam and Peshmal, were blown up by militants last month.
Sources said that militants planted explosive device at the school in Mohalah Hajyaan in Koza Banai of tehsil Kabal on Monday night. The building of the school was destroyed completely in the blast. The officials of bomb disposal squad said that 10 kilograms of explosives were used in the explosion.
The furniture and record of the school was also destroyed in the blast. About 404 educational institutions were destroyed by militants in Swat valley before the launch of military operation. However, the activities of militants were stopped after security forces launched military operation. Taliban, loyal to hardliner cleric Maulana Fazlullah, were against female education and termed it un-Islamic. They also destroyed boy schools and health centres in the pretext that security forces were residing there.
