Sanghar: OGDCL pipeline damaged in oil theft bid
SANGHAR: According to the Dawn News on Wednesday, an OGDCL pipeline, carrying crude oil from an oil well in Chak No5 to Bobi oil field complex, ruptured near Jhol on Tuesday when thieves tried to fix a valve in it to steal oil.
A three-foot portion of the pipeline was damaged, leading to oil spill on one and a half acres of land.
Later, Oil and Gas Development Company staff reached the spot and started repairing the pipeline after suspending supply to it from the well.
An FIR against unidentified thieves has been lodged with the Jhol police. An OGDC security official Manzoor Korai told reporters that the thieves, taking advantage of darkness, escaped from the scene.
Oil theft from pipelines has become a lucrative business in the area allegedly with the connivance of police and oil company officials.
