Karachi: Person wanted by the Gujrat ATC grabbed by CID from KIA
KARACHI: As reported by The News on Thursday, the personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Sindh, arrested an absconder on Wednesday who is wanted by the Punjab Police in murder cases and is also absconding from the Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) Gujrat.
Mazhar Mashwani, SP, CID, Sindh, said that information was received that an absconder wanted by the Gujrat ATC was hiding in Karachi.
During the course of investigation, it was found that the suspect was present in Korangi Industrial Area.
The police moved towards the spot and after a resistance arrested Sajjad Ahmed with a recovery of a pistol.
During investigation, the accused disclosed that he, along with his accomplice, had killed 18 persons in an armed attack in Gujrat (Punjab).
Other accomplices of his were arrested and tried in the ATC Gujrat, while he escaped to Karachi and took shelter here.
Mashwani said that the accused, Sajjad Ahmed, was absconder to the ATC, Gujrat, and the court has announced death sentence to the accused persons in the said case. Further probe is underway.
