Lahore: Murder case witnesses shot dead
LAHORE: As reported by The Nation on Wednesday, two people were gunned down while another two wounded critically as they were ambushed by their opponents when they were going to appear before a local Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with the hearing of a murder case here in Badami Bagh area, police said on Tuesday.
Five motorcyclists of Laiqat alias Liaka group sprayed four men of Azam group with bullets over old enmity near TNT Chowk in the vicinity of Badami Bagh police on early Tuesday.
Aabid Hussain, 28, and Sajjad Hussain, 25, of Azam group sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot while the condition of their relatives including Babar Hussain and Fiaz Ahmed was stated to be critical till filing of this report. The killers managed to escape from the scene in board daylight.
The police said that Abid Hussain, Sajjad Hussain, Babar Hussain and Fayyaz Ahmed riding on a Jeep were going to appear before a local Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with the hearing of a murder case against the killers when they were ambushed.
In 2009, five people including Wajahat, Amir Hussain and Sajjad of the same Azam group had been murdered by Liaqat alias Liaka and his accomplices. The deceased were the eyewitnesses in the murder case of five people while Azam was the complainant and he was pursuing the case in the Anti-Terrorism court. According to the police, the killers were recently released from the jail on bail. The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating with no arrest made so far. Further investigations were underway.
