Malir: Bandit dies in ‘shootout’ with police
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, a suspected bandit was gunned down in a Malir locality in a shoot-out with police inside a house in the early hours of Wednesday, officials said. They said that a police patrol of the Al-Falah police station heard some gunshots and later found three armed men firing into the air and trying to escape from a house.
“The three armed bandits broke into the house of Muhammad Ashraf in Millat Town,” said Al-Falah SHO Sub-Inspector Khalid Nadim. “They held the family members at gunpoint but did not know that the owner of the house was sleeping in another room.”
The police said that the house owner pulled out his licensed pistol and fired multiple shots from the rooftop that forced the bandits to leave the house in panic.
“The sounds of gunshots alerted the police patrol which later saw the three bandits fleeing,” said the area SHO. “When the police tried to stop them, the bandits started firing and the police returned the fire that left one of the bandits dead. Two other bandits, however, escaped from the scene.”
