Shadi Palli: Negligence of Irrigation Officials takes 4 lives of a family
UMERKOT: According to the Dawn News on Thursday, the criminal negligence of Irrigation officials took four lives of a family two brothers, their mother and boys` grandfather all for the sake of abandoning the half-done work near Shadi Palli.
Reportedly, Irrigation officials created a ditch after digging out mud from it and using it for strengthening the bank of Mithrao canal. The irresponsible staff did not bother to fill in the ditch after completing their work. Instead the gushing water from the breaches of Mithrao filled the ditch which gulped down the lives of four people on Wednesday.
The first victim was a nine-year-old boy Mashooq Ali Khaskheli when he jumped into the ditch to save his buffalo.
His 10-year-old brother Sain Bux, to save his brother, too jumped into it which was followed by their 35-year-old mother Hurmat.
The 60-year-old Ismail Khaskheli, grandfather of the boys could not resist and he also jumped into it to save his family which he could not and all got drowned in the ditch because of the negligence of a few.
The villagers recovered the drowning family and rushed them to Pithoro Hospital but all were declared dead upon arrival.
The unfortunate father of the boys had gone to his agricultural farms when the incident took place.
