Attock: SI arrested on bribery charges
ATTOCK: According to the Dawn News, the anti-corruption department has arrested a sub-inspector of Pindigheb police on the charge of taking bribe from two local residents. Saddiq Shah and Malik Mohammad Hayat filed a joint complaint with the anti-corruption department stating that SI Malik Mukhtar was demanding Rs200,000 in return for not pursuing a case despite the fact that they had already settled the dispute on their own.
An anti-corruption team under the supervision of a magistrate raided the office of the SI and recovered the notes which the policeman had just received from the complainants. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Dr Akhtar Abbas has ordered a departmental inquiry against the accused.
It may be mentioned that the accused remained reader at the SP investigation office for long till he was transferred to Pindigheb two months back. The DPO also suspended constable Bilal Ahmed of Attock Saddar police after a case was registered against him on the charge of assaulting a teenage boy. Besides, SI Mohammad Liaquat of Attock city police was suspended due to poor investigation of a murder case. Show-cause notices were also served on SHOs, SIs and ASIs of Injra, Jand and Basal police on their poor performances.
