Rawalpindi: FIA nabs fraud human smuggler
RAWALPINDI: As reported by the Daily Times on Friday, speeding up its drive against human smuggling, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) apprehended a swindler who had reportedly taken a big amount of money from people alluring to send them abroad.
Following directions of FIA director, a special team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Director Passport Cell Shahzad Haider.
The team raided a hotel located in Cantonment (Cantt) area after receiving a tip off and arrested Usman, of AJK Poonch, from a room recovering fake passports, bogus visas of different countries, trade test reports, photographs, photocopies of CNICs, driving licenses and phony visa stamps.
Talking to Daily Times, Deputy Director Shahzad said several complaints were received against the accused that he not only made money from people desirous of going abroad but he was also involved in business of bogus visas.
He said a FIA official visited the hotel where Usman ran his business in the disguise of a client and after confirmation of the allegations against him, the Agency raided the hotel and arrested him red-handed.
FIA has also obtained his physical remand from the court and started investigation from him.
