Bajaur: Senior physician abducted
KHAR: According to the Dawn News on Saturday, a senior physician was kidnapped by a group of armed men from his residence here on Friday evening.
Locals said that a group of about 20 armed men entered the house of Dr Khan Badshah, senior physician at Agency Headquarters Hospital Khar, at 6:30pm and whisked him away at gunpoint.
The residence of Dr Badshah is situated in the densely populated area of Khar town, but nobody in the area dared to resist the militants.
It may be recalled that Zakir Hussain, younger brother of Dr Badshah, was killed during a kidnapping attempt by militants loyal to TTP deputy chief Mulana Faqir Mohmmad in Chingaro area near Damadola.
The political administration confirmed the incident suspecting that the senior physician might have been kidnapped for ransom.
Several doctors have been killed or kidnapped in Bajaur since eruption of militancy in the tribal region.
Dr Abdul Ghani, a former agency surgeon, was kidnapped in 2007, while Dr Kachkol, surveillance officer EPI, Dr Aziz, children specialist, and some others had also been kidnapped for ransom.
Presently 18 posts of specialist doctors are lying vacant at the Agency Headquarters Hospital Khar.
Except agency surgeon Dr Jehan Zeb Dawar, all others doctors are simple medical officers.
