Lahore: CIA halts 6 ‘hardened criminals’
LAHORE: According to the Dawn News on Saturday, the CIA police claim to have arrested a six-member gang of robbers-cum-murderers involved in 63 heinous crime cases, including 23 in Lahore and 40 in Karachi.
They had killed 13 people, including two Shia leaders and three film actresses, and also injured scores of others, the police claimed.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, SSP (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed said gangsters Irshad alias Shada, Ramzan alias Kaila, Noor alias Narra, Jamshed, Abdul Rahman and Saleem Shahzad had murdered Shia leaders Zahid Rafiq in Baghbanpura, Tufail Shah in Iqbal Town and film actresses Naina and Misbah in Faisal Town, Lahore, and Marvi in Karachi.
The SSP said the gangsters had also murdered citizens, including Ramzan in North Cantonment, Zaman in Civil Lines, Khalid Ahmad in Shafiqabad, Muhammad Akbar in Wahdat Colony, Sumera Bibi in Ghaziabad and Muhammad Ashraf in Kot Lakhpat.
The SSP said Irshad had links with the notorious ‘Aslam Bassa gang’.
He said cases were registered against them in different police stations of Lahore and Karachi.
The SSP said the arrested gangsters had confessed to their crime during interrogation.
He said the police also recovered illegal weapons, stolen vehicles and other valuables from their possession.
Meanwhile, the SSP said the CIA police also arrested some 15 suspects involved in the murder of a man and his young son in Misri Shah.
