Islamabad: 2 murders mark deadly weekend
ISLAMABAD: As reported by the Dawn News on Saturday, Islamabad witnessed two gruesome murders over the weekend as a dentist was gunned down for marrying against the will of his wife`s family and a young man was stabbed to death over old enmity, police said.
Dr Mohammad Afzal was found dead in his Suzuki Fx parked along roadside in I-10/1 on Friday night. Passersby spotted the body in the car. The police shifted the body to the hospital for autopsy. Police said the victim left Marium Hospital where he practiced from 7pm to 9pm for his home in I-10/1 on Friday night. A native of Mansehra, he had a bullet injury in the back of neck, which pierced through right cheek.
In a complaint lodged with Sabzi Mandi police, Abdul Aziz, brother of the victim, nominated a paternal cousin of his sister-in-law behind the killing. He stated that the cousin wanted to marry wife of the victim but the proposal was turned down.
Meanwhile, Nadeem Iqbal, 28, was stabbed to death and his wife injured when two persons attacked them in their house in the capital`s suburbs in the early hours of Sunday. Police suspected the motive behind the murder was old enmity, adding that the wife was badly injured when she tried to rescue her husband. The couple`s two children escaped unhurt in the attack but they also witnessed the gory incident, police said.
