Antiques smuggling foiled at Torkham border
LANDIKOTAL: As reported by The News on Friday, Pakistani authorities at the Torkham border foiled smuggling of antiques worth millions of rupees into Afghanistan besides arresting the smuggler, Khassadar sources said here on Thursday.
During routine checking, the Khassadar force personnel recovered the antiques, including statues, plates and other age-old crockery, from the luggage of an Afghan national, identified as Abdul Ghaffar, the sources said. The items had been concealed in the packets of peanut, the sources added. The arrested man was sent to Landikotal after preliminary investigation at the border, the sources said.
