Parachinar: 6 abducted students freed by militants
PARACHINAR: As reported by the Dawn News on Monday, militants on Sunday freed the six students they had kidnapped last July in attacks on two passenger vehicles in lower tehsil of Kurram Agency which left 15 passengers dead, tribal elders said.
Yousaf Hussain Turi, a local elder, told journalists that elders of the area had negotiated the release of the students. He the students were handed to Commandant Kurram Militia Col Touseef Akhtar. Later the students were taken to Peshawar to be reunited with their families.
Militants had attacked two passengers` vehicles on Thall-Parachinar Road in Sherkhel village on July 17. The vehicles were proceeding from Parachinar to Peshawar in the paramilitary convoy and 15 passengers, including women and children, were killed in the attack. The attackers had kidnapped the students and shifted them to unknown location. The released students were identified as Shahid Hussain, Wajahat Hussain, Fida Hussain, Jamshid Ali, Nazer Hussain and Sajid Hussain.
