ISLAMABAD: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, as many as 138 persons were arrested in connection with 65 murder cases during the current year, the capital police said.
Likewise, 75 stolen vehicles and 14 motorcycles were recovered and 129 auto-thieves arrested. Besides, 196 tampered vehicles were recovered which led to the arrest of 123 persons.
A total of 259 people were arrested for their alleged involvement in 73 attempted murder cases.
The police claimed to have made significant recoveries in robbery, theft and burglary incidents and arrested 566 criminals.
Valuables worth Rs30 million were also recovered.
As many as 84 Klashnikovs/rifles, 57 guns/carbines, 532 revolvers/pistols and 14,152 rounds were recovered from 657 persons.
The police also arrested 651 persons and recovered 349.1 kg hashish, 37.6 kg opium, 14.9 kg heroin, 28.6 kg poppy and 52,212 bottles of wine.
Besides, 158 proclaimed offenders and 394 court absconders were also arrested during the period.
