Karachi: Passerby shot dead in firing by bike snatchers
Karachi: As reported by the Dawn News on Wednesday, a young passer-by was killed and a teenage boy sustained a bullet wound on Tuesday when armed men while snatching a motorbike from a rider fired indiscriminately in the Dalmia area, officials said.
They said the armed motorcyclists intercepted Marwat Jan riding a motorbike in Street 15 of Dalmia Colony and deprived him of cash and a cellphone at gunpoint. “However, when they demanded his motorbike while returning from the scene, he resisted that triggered firing from one of the armed men,” said an official at the Aziz Bhatti police station.
“The indiscriminate firing hit two passersby. The armed men however left the scene without Marwat Jan’s motorbike, apparently in panic.” The wounded, identified as 15-year-old Zahid Hussain, and 25-year-old Javed Rasheed were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. “Javed died from the bullet wounds during the treatment while Zahid was later shifted to the JPMC after initial treatment,” added the official.
