Larkana: Police foil assassination attempt on couple
LARKANA: According to the Dawn News, six men, including the former husband of a woman Shabana Jarwar and his friends have been arrested by the police for planning to kill her and her second husband. Police have also recovered arms from their possession. Shabana, 25, had married Yaseen Jarwar in a Karachi court about two years ago after getting divorce from her first husband Gulsher Jarwar, a retired army man. Gulsher had allegedly purchased Shabana from her father for Rs75,000 when she was 19.
After the second marriage, she had shifted to Karachi and had been living with her husband and brother Shahid in Shirin Jinnah Colony, police said. Feeling disgraced with the decision of Shabana to marry Yaseen, Gulsher had been contemplating to kill her along with her husband.
According to police, the former husband of Shabana had offered Rashid Jarwar, an hired assassin, Rs100,000 for killing the couple. He had received Rs50,000 from Gulsher, while the remaining amount was to be paid to him after murder of the couple.
The owner of the house, Shafqat Kalhoro, however, resisted the move and shifted the couple to a hotel. In the meantime, he informed police about the assassination plan and location of the couple. Police raided the hotel and picked the couple along with Shahid Jarwar and Rashid Jarwar. During interrogation Rashid disclosed the entire plan to police.
SHO of Market Mohammed Amin Khoso said that as Gulsher, along with his brothers and others, was on way to Larkana hotel, they were arrested from Phul and recovered a pistol, magazine and a dagger from their possession.
