KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News, a suspected bandit was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Federal B Area shortly after he along with his two armed accomplices had shot at and wounded three people during mugging attempts on Wednesday, officials said. They added that the three armed men riding a motorbike were depriving passersby of their cash, mobile phones and valuables near a well-known eatery, Café Pyala, when they faced resistance from a youngster.

The police officials said that the situation turned serious when the scuffle between the armed men and the youngster attracted other passersby. “Seeing themselves trapped in the crowd, one of the three armed men fired multiple shots that hit three people present there,” said an official at the Taimuria police station. He said the wounded, identified as Fahim, Qaiser and Sairaj, were later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

“The armed men then got on the motorbike in an attempt to escape when a police van patrolling the area reached on hearing the gunfire.” The policemen asked the motorcyclists to surrender, but they fired at the law-enforcers. “The police returned the fire wounding one bandit, but his two accomplices managed to flee,” the official added. “The wounded bandit was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.
