Karachi: CID Sindh nabs 6 terrorists
KARACHI: As reported by The News on Thursday, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sindh arrested six “terrorists” belonging to Lashker-e-Jhangvi (LJ) from their hideout in Peerabad area and recovered huge quantity of explosives, arms, detonating wires, cyanide and hundreds of bullets.
The Police also recovered a hit-list from the possession of the held suspects, containing the names of various Shia scholars and political activists.
Besides, the suspects had plans to launch terrorist attacks during the coming month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Addressing a joint press briefing at police headquarters in Garden, SSP Omer Shahid Hamid and SSP Mohammed Aslam Khan of CID Anti-Extremism Cell said that in the wake of disclosures made by the suspected terrorists they have extended the scope of investigation regarding the presence of militants in the city.
The suspected terrorists were identified as Qari Dawood Farooqi, Ameer of LJ’s Karachi group, Nafees Abbas, Ikramul Haq, Mohammed Shahid, Mohammed Abdullah and Naushad alias Fawad.
