Karachi: Court dismisses bail plea of NHA chief in Shershah bridge case
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, a sessions court on Wednesday dismissed the bail applications of the National Highway Authority (NHA) chairman and two others in the Shershah bridge collapse case. NHA chief Chaudhry Altaf Ahmed, one of the directors of M/s Engineering Consultants International Limited (ECIL) Khalid Mirza and former member planning of the NHA Syed Najamul Hassan were arrested in courtroom on Nov 6 after the dismissal of their pre-arrest bail applications. They were then sent to prison.
The accused through their counsel filed post-arrest bail applications in court, which were not opposed by the special public prosecutor. The others four accused, including member operation of the NHA Raja Nowsherwan, former general manager (construction) of the NHA retired Col Tahseen-ul-Haq and directors of the ECIL Zaheer Mirza and Naveed Mirza were on bail.
