Lahore: FIA gets remand of 9 accused in NICL scam
LAHORE: As reported by the Daily Times on Friday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday obtained a four-day physical remand of former state minister for defence productions Major (Retd) Habibullah Warriach and eight others in a Rs1.6 billion scam in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL).
All the accused in the NICL scam, including Major (Retd) Warriach, his cousin Privilege Farms (Pvt) Limited Director Akram Warriach, NICL Karachi Real Estate General Manager Syed Zahid Hussain, Executive Director Muhammad Zahoor, former general manager Sheikh Ejaz Ahmad, central zone Lahore Executive Director Ayub Saddique Butt, and Board of Directors members Syed Naveed Hussain and Syed Hur Riaz Gardezi were arrested on October 31.
Different FIA teams on Thursday raided Khanewal, Eisakhel, Karachi and Lahore to arrest NICL Chairman Ayaz Khan Niazi, director Amin Qasim Dada and Rana Muhammad Ali, but failed, sources said.
The FIA has contacted Interpol for issuance of Red Warrants against NICL director Javed Syed who is reportedly staying in UK, sources said.
