Karachi: Tonnes of sugar clutched in raids
KARACHI: According to the Dawn News on Saturday, City government officials along with area police carried out raids on government and private warehouses in the Korangi Industrial Area on Friday and seized more than 20,000 sugar bags.
The police said that they assisted a city government team in carrying out raids on three warehouses.
“First we raided a warehouse of the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Supplies Corporation (PASSCO) and seized 12,000 bags, each containing 50-kilos of sugar,” said Sub-Inspector G. A. Sheikh, the SHO of the Korangi Industrial Area police station.
“Then we moved to a private facility and recovered almost the same number of bags before seizing thousands of sugar bags from another private facility in the same area.”
He said the police only facilitated the city government team and no arrest was made by the law-enforcers.
“The seized commodity later handed over to the city government officials.” the area SHO said.
