Peshawar: Bail in murder case canceled, MPA apprehended
PESHAWAR: The Dawn News reported on Saturday, an MPA of the ruling Awami National Party, Shakil Umerzai, was arrested here on Friday after the Peshawar High Court cancelled the bail granted to him by a subordinate court in the murder case of former MPA, Alamzeb Umerzai, and three others.
A single bench comprising Justice Pir Liaqat Ali allowed a bail cancellation petition filed by Arshid Khan, brother of the deceased Alamzeb Umerzai, requesting the court to cancel the bail granted to Mr Shakil as that was not based on valid reasons.
The bench observed that keeping in view the available evidence the accused, Shakil Umerzai, did not deserve the concession of bail.
Mr Shakil was granted bail by the district and sessions judge, Sardar Muhammad Irshad, on July 17, 2010.
Late Alamzeb Umerzai, who was a leader of PPP-Sherpao, was killed along with three other persons when they were traveling in a car in Charsadda in the jurisdiction of police station Parang on April 22.
The deceased had earlier survived many life attempts and in two of the cases in 2002 and 2003, respectively he had charged Shakeel Umerzai, Bashir Umerzai and their other relatives.
