Karachi: 6 Police nab 6 kidnappers, seize arms
KARACHI: As reported by The News on Tuesday, the Shah Faisal Town Police solved a kidnapping case that occurred on Sunday night and arrested six culprits involved in the crime on Monday.
Shah Faisal Town SPP Shad Ibne Masih said that on Sunday, a trader Adnan Aziz Qureshi was kidnapped from Kamran Chowrangi by six men in a car.
“As the car got close to Jauhar Chowrangi, Adnan jumped from the moving car and escaped. He informed the local police stationed at the roundabout for security duty.
The Police chased the culprits but they managed to flee.
Adnan in his statement told the police that he owns an electrical and networking business and lives in Block-12, Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
His father had a partnership with a contractor Ashraf Bhatti who used to purchase electrical items from their godown.
During meetings, Ashraf introduced his son Zafar Bhatti to Adnan some five months ago. Some days ago, Zafar called Adnan and informed him that he knew a needy family that could do with some financial assistance.
In this regard, Adnan assured of his support and told Zafar to come and take Rs3, 000 to Rs5, 000.
“Zafar however told him to come and visit the family personally in Manzoor Colony, Mehmoodabad.
Adnan agreed and on Sunday called Zafar who immediately showed up at his house. On their way, Zafar stopped the car near Kamran Chowrangi and told him that he wanted to call the family and inform them that they were coming.
Zafar took out his cell phone and made a call. However, after the call, five armed men in a white Toyota car appeared and started beating Adnan.
They put a black mask on his face and tied his hands. They put him inside the boot of the car and drove away, setting the volume of the music to maximum,” SSP Shad added.
Adnan maintained that he bit through the rope with his teeth and managed to open the boot and jump from the moving car. He got out of the car near Darul Sehat Hospital and ran towards Jauhar Chowrangi where he found the Sharea Faisal Police and told them the whole story.
SSP Shad Masih said that he immediately ordered to nab the culprits and also began collecting evidences including the cellphone record and residences of accused persons.
On early Monday morning, a police team of Shah Faisal Town conducted a raid in Manzoor Colony, Mehmoodabad and after some resistance arrested Zafar along with his companions Awais alias Mitho, Babar Gill, Shahbaz, Adnan and Mohammed Ramzan. Police also recovered six pistols, a white corolla car and various SIMs. The accused were moved to the police station for interrogation.
During investigation, Zafar disclosed that he was working with his father Ashraf for the last five months. During the period, he visited Adnan Qureshi’s office on various occasion and saw the financial transactions.
He made a plan to kidnap Adnan and discussed the same with his cousins Babar Gill and Shahbaz who agreed and told him to call Awais, Adnan and Ramzan from Jaraanwala, Punjab.
The men hatched a plan and purchased SIM cards. Two of them were deployed near the house of Adnan to keep an eye on his movement. They had planned to demand a ransom of Rs3 to 4 million from the victim’s family and had rented a car to kidnap Adnan.
