Rawalpindi: Death penalty for mother-in-law’s killer
RAWALPINDI: An additional district and sessions judge on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his mother-in-law over domestic issue.
Judge Chaudhry Aurangzeb ordered the convict, Mohammad Irshad, to pay Rs300,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. In case of default he has to undergo six months extra jail.
Kotli Sattian police booked Irshad, a resident of Dhaan Giran, on 3 October 2009 for axing Zulaikha Bibi, his mother-in-law, to death. Irshad had beaten his wife Naheed Bibi and injured her with a sickle. This enraged Zulaikha who scolded him for injuring her daughter. On this, the angry son-in-law killed her.
