Lahore: Petition for action against sugar hoarders
LAHORE: A miscellaneous petition has been moved in the Lahore High Court with a pray to direct the government to take strict action against hoarding and black-marketing of sugar and return of excessive price charged from the common man.
Muhammad Azhar Siddqiue advocate has filed the new application into his main petition on the subject which is fixed for November 30.
According to the new application, the counsel said that 78,000 sugar bags had been recovered from the hoarders which proved that the federal and provincial governments were involved in the sugar crisis.
He said the relevant departments and authorities had failed to exercise their power under the law which resulted in increase of sugar price.
He prayed that the excessive price charged from the consumers might be returned. This application is likely to be heard by Justice Sh Azmat Saeed on Wednesday.
