Peshawar: Servant of ex-army officer arrested for theft
PESHAWAR: Police arrested the servant of a former senior military officer for stealing around Rs1 million cash and over 20 tolas of gold jewellery to arrange for his marriage that was scheduled for December 5.
The East Cantonment Police had registered First Information Report (FIR) following theft at the house of a former army major general living in the posh Shami Road locality when the family was away on October 23. One million rupees cash as well as gold jewellery and other valuables were stolen from the house.
The investigators arrested Amin belonging to Shabqadar area of Charsadda district working as servant of the retired general and interrogated him for a few days. The servant, according to police, later confessed to have committed the crime as his in-laws were pressuring him to provide money to make arrangements for his marriage that was finally scheduled for December 5.
