Lakki Marat: Swindlers draw money from TMA account
LAKKI MARWAT: The Naurang Tehsil Municipal Administration suffered huge loss and embarrassment as fraudsters drew an amount of Rs1,882,945 from its account through fake cheques, sources said.
“It shows extreme negligence by officials concerned and state of affairs at Naurang TMA,” they added.
They said that the amount had been drawn from the account of TMA at Naurang branch of United Bank Limited through eight cheques on different occasions.
“About 10 cheques were missing from the office and eight of them have now been cashed from the bank,” sources said.
They said that cheque No. 1269079 of Rs100,000 was cashed on Oct 11, 2010, cheque No. 7852107 of Rs193,500 Oct 14, cheque No. 7852111 of Rs520,000 on Nov 1, cheque No. 1269077 of Rs29,500 on Nov 2, cheque No. 7852110 of Rs270,500 on Nov 4, cheque No. 7852113 of Rs239,300 on Nov 8, cheque No. 7852114 of Rs173,000 on Nov 10 and cheque No. 7852117 of Rs357,145 was cashed from the bank on Nov 15, 2010.
The tehsil municipal officer told police that the cheques got cashed from the bank were carrying his and the accountant’s fake signatures.
