Lahore: Balochistan varsity declares MNA’s degree as forged
LAHORE: The Balochistan University examination controller on Thursday informed the Lahore High Court that PML-N MNA Rana Zahid Husain passed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) on the basis of forged documents and concealment of facts.
This was stated in a written report submitted to the court with regard to a writ petition filed by Waheed Sabir, a voter from NA-166, Pakpattan, who challenged the academic qualifications of the MNA and sought his disqualification.
The report revealed the varsity had sent intermediate certificate of the MNA to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Karachi, for verification and the board verified it as that of supplementary and not annual examination 2004.
Whereas, at the time of filing admission form for BA examination the respondent had attached the certificate showing he had appeared in the annual examination, 2004.
It further said the registration number mentioned by Mr Husain on his BA examination form was not allotted to him but to one Aurangzaib Magsi.
Therefore, Mr Husain submitted his documents for BA annual examination 2006 by forging his intermediate certificate to fulfill two-year mandatory gap to appear in the exam, it said.
It maintained the MNA was not eligible to appear in the BA annual examination, 2006.
The controller said the examination section of the university requested the authorities for constitution of a committee to probe into the matter of concealment of facts and to take legal action against Rana Zahid.
The court, after going through the report, adjourned hearing till Dec 7 as MNA’s counsel sought time to advance arguments.
