Swabi: Child freed, abductors held
SWABI: Police claimed here on Thursday to have recovered an abducted child and arrested three kidnappers during a raid.
Shahyan Haris, a five-and-half-year-old child, was kidnapped from his Village Jhanda on Nov 14 when he was playing with other children in front of his house.
His father Abdul Qadeer, a poultry trader, told this correspondent by phone that they registered an FIR with police but at the same time they continued to search for his son.
He said that they were also waiting for the demand of ransom from the kidnappers. However, they didn’t receive any such demand, he added.
An official said that police raided a house on a tip off in the mountainous region of Qadra and recovered the child at 1am.
“Police informed us at 1:50am that the child had been recovered and they were on their way to hand him over to us,” said Abdul Waheed, a maternal uncle of the child.
However, officials did not disclose the names of the three arrested kidnappers.
