Political worker shot dead in Lyari
KARACHI: A young worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was gunned down and a friend of his was wounded in an attack in Lyari in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
They said the victim, identified as Ghulam Fareed, was targeted by the gunmen on a motorbike when he was sitting with his friend outside a roadside tea stall on Tannery Road.
“One of the assailants got off the two-wheeler and fired multiple shots at Ghulam Fareed,” said an official at the Chakiwara Police Station.
“He was hit by one bullet each in the chest and the abdomen while his friend, Iqbal, sustained a single bullet wound in the shoulder.”
The two wounded men were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where Ghulam Fareed died during treatment.
Iqbal was stated to be in a stable condition, said the official, adding that the victim was a transporter, resident of Gulistan Colony.
