Karachi: Bandit killed in police encounter

KARACHI: A bandit was killed while his accomplice fled during an encounter with New Town Police in Bahadurabad on Wednesday evening.

Police said two bandits tried to snatch the car from Shahrukh, 12, son of private television channel reporter Imtiaz Shah, at gunpoint. On offering resistance, the culprits opened fire, leaving Shahrukh injured.

In the meantime, a police team rushed to the scene and opened fire on the bandits, killing one of them on the spot while the other managed to escape.

Eyewitnesses, however, claimed that the boy sustained bullets from the firing by police.
