Karachi: Political clash leaves 2 injured
KARACHI: Two people, including a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist, were wounded as two rival groups clashed over burning of a party banner in Shah Faisal Town on Monday.
According to police sources and eyewitnesses, tension prevailed in the area as two armed groups of the Awami National Party (ANP) and the MQM scuffled on the issue of burning MQM’s pole-mounted banner on the Natha Khan Bridge, which left two people injured and a gridlock on main Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Shah Faisal Town SP Shad Ibne Masih told Daily Times that the clash sparked after MQM’s banner hung on a hoarding of the Natha Khan Bridge was burnt.
The injured men were identified as Waqar and MQM activist Danish, he added.
