Chakwal: Highwayman killed by friendly fire
CHAKWAL, Dec 15: A highwayman died of his accomplice’s fire as a young man resisted their attempt to snatch money and cellphone, ending their looting spree on Tuesday night, police said.
Police said the highwaymen blocking the road near Dhudial were looting the passengers for two hours.
However, when a young man resisted the three robbers’ demand for his cash and cellphone, one of them opened fire.
But instead of hitting the young man, it hit the other robber, killing him on the spot.
In panic the two other robbers fled, leaving behind the body of accomplice. The dead robber was identified Qasim belonged to Chak Baili village.
The looted passengers claimed when they called Dhudial police station, they were told the policemen were tired because of patrolling duty for Muharram.
