Faisalabad: Man who threatened Rehman arrested
FAISALABAD: Regional Police officer (RPO) Aftab Ahmad Cheema on Wednesday claimed to have arrested the man who had been hurling threats to Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik here from Faisalabad.
“The police have managed the arrest of the man who has been involved in hurling threats to the Interior Minister; we have solved the mystery through investigation on scientific lines.”
Addressing a press conference here, Aftab Cheema said that if the information gathered by the Intelligence Agencies was anything to go by, there were potential threats of terrorists’ activities in Faisalabad.
“The terrorists can attack Muharram processions; we have some solid tip-offs and to avert such incidents we have constituted a Special Quick Response Force to combat any such eventuality,” he pointed out.
He said that a special security plan had been implemented upon and data of personnel of law enforcement agencies, deployed or to be, had been complied along with their cell-phone numbers for more strict security procedures.
He said that no one would be allowed to enter any procession or Majalis limits without their identification.
The RPO maintained that houses on routes of processions were being checked on daily basis while the police were closely monitoring the nearby hotels and other such buildings.
Aftab Cheema said that security plan had been divided into A, B and C categories and no police man would be allowed to leave duty after the end of Ashura as per the security plan.
The RPO claimed that the government had also taken some steps as part of the security plan to facilitate the personnel of all the law enforcement agencies.
“The security personnel are being provided with food and other basic necessities at the places of their duty to boost their moral and ensure their welfare,” he elaborated and added that there were a close liaison among all the law enforcement agencies and they were in constant contact with each others.
