Thefts on rise in Gujar Khan
GUJAR KHAN: Two shops of automobile spare parts were looted in Gujar Khan on Saturday night as the city has witnessed increase in thefts over the last five months.
On Saturday night burglars looted two shops on G.T. Road and escaped with spare parts and batteries worth thousands of rupees.
Haji Sabir Hussain Qureshi told Dawn that on Sunday morning, when he went to open his shop, it had a different lock. When he smashed open the lock, spare parts and engine oil cans worth Rs160,000 were missing from the shop.
Mr Qureshi regretted that one-and-a-half month ago, house of his sister was looted, depriving her of gold ornaments worth Rs0.6 million and Rs80,000. He said no one has been arrested in that case.
Mohammad Jawaid also found on Sunday morning locks of his shop in Guliana Morr broken, and DC batteries worth over Rs450,000 missing. A few days back, he said, a shop of motorcycles’ spare parts was also looted. He said the police have not taken any action to stop these thefts.
