Karachi: Police nab 3 in Clifton gang rape case
KARACHI: The Darakshan police investigation branch and Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Tuesday apprehended three culprits involved in the kidnapping and gang rape of a girl when she was going home after attending a party in Clifton.
According to CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, the police conducted a raid in the Defence area and apprehended the three culprits Javaid Iqbal, Nadeem Naeem and Saud Ahmed alias Khan.
Sources said the victims, girls belonging to the fashion industry, were headed home after attending a birthday party at the house of a businessman when they were abducted and subjected to torture and rape by the three culprits.
SP Investigation Junaid Ahmed Sheikh while talking with Daily Times said that the police had earlier during the day detained boyfriend of victim Kiran Abdullah, Muzahir, and also a complainant of the case. They had also picked up the businessman.
During the investigation process, the police had obtained the phone and vehicle registration numbers of the culprits involved in the kidnapping and rape from ‘M’ and the businessman.
SP Sheikh further pinpointed that both the girls were familiar with the culprits and provided the numbers of the vehicle and cell phone of the culprits.
In reply to a question, SP Sheikh said that both girls belong to Karachi, but Muzahir hails from Lahore. He said that both victims belonged to the fashion industry and participated in fashion shows as models.
Police sources said that both girls and culprits attended the dance party at the house of the businessman where some unknown dispute occurred between the girls and the boys. As a result, when the girls were on their way from the party the culprits abducted them and took them to a house.
The culprits tortured the girl Sonia and raped her friend Kiran Abudllah and dropped both the victims at the place from where they had kidnapped them during the wee hours of Sunday.
