Lahore: SC cuts death sentence of 2 convicts
LAHORE: A full bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday reduced death sentence to life imprisonment of two convicts on the charge of murdering Punjab health ex-deputy secretary, AR Rasheed.
The Naulakha police had lodged a case in 1998 against Shahid Javed and Zulfiqar Hussain, who were subordinates of the deceased.
According to the FIR, the accused had killed Rasheed following some religious differences.
An anti-terrorism court awarded them death sentence, which was also upheld by the Lahore High Court. Later, the convicts filed appeals in the Supreme Court challenging their conviction.
