Karachi: 200 grams of heroin seized
KARACHI, Dec 24: Customs officials seized 200 grams of heroin recovered from a courier parcel of sports gloves at the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport on Friday.
The staff of the customs drug enforcement cell received a tip-off that heroin would be smuggled out through courier parcels, taking advantage of the huge volume of outgoing greeting mail and gifts on the eve of Christmas, according to an official handout.
Subsequently, the customs staff kept a watch on the clearance of outgoing mail and intercepted a courier parcel at Karachi airport that was actually booked through a Lahore office of a local courier company for Australia.
Search of the parcel led to the recovery of heroin.
