KARACHI: Enraged youths set a water tanker on fire in a Saddar locality after the vehicle knocked down a young motorcyclist, police said.
They said that the motorcyclist, identified as 27-year-old Nasir Ahmed, was hit by a fast-moving water tanker on main Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah Road within the remit of the Preedy Police Station.
“The motorcyclist was seriously injured and shifted to hospital for treatment,” said an official at the Preedy Police Station.
“Passers-by and area people who witnessed the accident became enraged over the tanker driver’s negligence and they set the vehicle on fire.”
The blaze almost completely damaged the water tanker, bearing registration number TTB-782, before a fire tender reached the site.
