Smuggling attempt foiled in Chagai
CHAGAI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of opium into Chagai District from Afghanistan on Sunday.
An ANF spokesman said that the force’s personnel signalled two vehicles in the Chapper area near the Pakistan-Afghan border to stop but the occupants opened fire.
When the ANF personnel returned the fire the smugglers escaped.
The spokesman said that about 1,820kg of opium, estimated to be valued at Rs2.25 billion, was seized from the vehicles.
