4 hurt in Karachi University blast
KARACHI: Four people were reportedly injured as a result of a blast near the cafeteria in Karachi University on Tuesday.
Initial reports indicate that it was a low intensity bomb and was planted in the bushes close to the Masjid-ul Imran. The bomb went off when people were headed to the mosque for Zuhr prayers.
Express 24/7 correspondent Sabeen Agha reports that all exams scheduled for the day have been postponed and the university has been closed for three days.
Superintendent of Police Naeem Sheikh, speaking to Express News, said that one kilogramme of explosive material was used in the blast.
According to Express 24/7 correspondent Sheheryar Mirza there were no major injuries and the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Police and rangers have cordoned off the area and the bomb disposal squad also arrived at the scene of the blast.
A large number of students had been present at the university as it had re-opened after a recent closure due to clashes on campus.
