Lahore: Corrupt ex-CDA official gets bail
LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday granted bail to Junaid Karim, a former Capital Development Authority director, and ordered his release on furnishing bonds of Rs3 million.
An accountability court in Rawalpindi had sentenced Karim and his alleged accomplices Shaukat Abbas and Jaffar Raza to 10 years imprisonment each on October 25 in a corruption case. The court had also imposed Rs2 million fine each on all the three.
The court had acquitted another accused, Abdus Salam Baloch, from the charges.
The three men were accused of their involvement in the embezzlement of funds for improvement of water supply system in sectors G-6 and G-7. Abbas was a contractor and Jaffar Raza was an engineer.
