Rawalpindi: Arms smuggling bid foiled
RAWALPINDI: Police on Monday thwarted arm smuggling and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions from a car and arrested two persons of inter-provisional gang of smugglers.
Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Hamid Mukhtar Gondal said in a press conference at CPO’s Office.
High ups of police received information from their informer that arms and ammunition in immense quantity would be smuggled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Central Punjab via Rawalpindi.
On the tip-off, RPO constituted a team under the supervision of SP Potohar Town Sikandar Hayat to check the smuggling.
Police on doubt stopped a white coloured car at the temporary picket at Chakri and after search 25 repeaters (12 bore) including six box copal guns, 70 pistols (30 bore) and about 25,000 rounds were recovered and arrested two persons Rab Nawaz and Muhammad Amin of Peshawar. The car was also taken into custody.
