Karachi: Robber jailed for 3 years
KARACHI: A sessions court on Tuesday sentenced a man to three years in prison in a robbery case.
The court found Mohammad Siddiq guilty of robbing a man at gunpoint in Jan 2008 within the remit of the Quaidabad Police Station.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (Malir) Mohammad Shahid Shafiq pronounced his judgment after recording evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 and in case of default, the convict would have to suffer an additional one-month imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, on Jan 22, 2008 the accused along with his absconding accomplices held Mohammad Sadiq, the complainant, at gunpoint in the Quaidabad area and deprived him of cash, cellphone and other valuables. However, a police patrol apprehended the accused while his accomplices managed to escape, it added.
A case (FIR 48/2008) was registered against the accused under Sections 392 (punishment for robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim.
